Larry Ronald Klier

KLIER, Larry Ronald passed away suddenly on Jul 9, 2026 at the age of 87. He was born in Souris, Manitoba on May 27, 1939 to Joseph and Violet Klier. His family moved to Burnaby, BC when he was 12. He started working at Royal Oak Drugs as a delivery boy for Alex McPhee who became his mentor and influenced his decision to become a pharmacist. After attending MacPherson Park JH and graduating from Burnaby South secondary school he attended UBC and graduated in pharmacy. He bought Royal Drugs when Alex retired and operated the pharmacy for 42 years until his retirement. Larry was committed to his family, especially his wife and two daughters whom he adored. He was also passionate about giving back to the community; waiving dispensing fees for people that couldn’t afford their medication and extended his kindness to everyone that stepped into his pharmacy. He was a long-term member of Rotary where he served as president and was presented with the three Paul Harris fellows, the highest honour in Rotary. He volunteered for his Rotary Club in many ways. He was most passionate about Rotary World Help. Shipping containers of medical supplies to countries in crisis. Larry loved being a Rotarian and lived by the four way test: Is the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? He is predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Violet Klier, his sisters Inez, Cora, Hazel, and his brother Glynn. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 55 years, daughters Susan and Shannon (Dustin) niece Glenda, and many other family members and friends. He loved travelling the world with Barbara, especially road trips and vacations in Hawaii and Sedona. He also loved fishing and watching sports. He was a Churchillian often quoting Churchill’s speeches. Larry will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, sense of humour and gentle heart. He will be missed by so many, but especially by his immediate family. He was always there to offer words of support, advice or just a hug.
